MP3 Support in Linux

I don't know why linux doesn't support mp3's natively, probably licensing. You have support for ogg though, which is better anyway. That still doesn't help me with my HUGE mp3 collection.

yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly
yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad
That should do it... while you are at it, install banshee
yum install banshee

Is yum for Red hat/ Fedora Core?

I though it was. And if it is, other OS users will have to of course change the command.

Yeah, yum is fedora, up2date is redhat, don't remember Centos. Ubuntu is sudo-apt get i think.

just apt-get

? I'You mean it doesn't play MP3's I've always had sucess with mp3's then again I've only really used xmms.
