KT400 Roundup

Recommended Posts

Mid August 2002, when the KT400 chipset first surfaced, the AMD Athlon finally got DDR400 support. Although this support is only unofficial, the ability to run at DDR400 speed exists nonetheless. The whole DDR400 concept sounds very appealing for most Athlon users, however for Athlon XP based systems it is not really much to get excited over. The very same issues that plagued the KT333 chipset are here to trouble the KT400 chipset.

Like I was reading the other day, you don't see much of a performance incrrease, if any, by switching to the 400 speed. The processors need to catch up first. You need to weigh the cost with any performance gain.
