OK guys.. here we go...

Over the next couple of months.. i am going to be building a MONSTER computer... this thing is going to be NICE!!!!!

I am going to create a thread and post every piece I use.. from thumbscrews to washers... NOW mind you, this is not going to be a modders dream.. but it is going to be one NICE system. (OVER TIME, i am monetarily challenged so this will be slow.)

Running Tally: 826.33

Price exludes shipping!!!!

The companies you will see listed with the products may not be the cheapest, but there reputation is excellent; as well as my experiences with them.

Cold Cathode Light Kit, Deluxe Blue

Description:

Deluxe Cold Cathode Kit

Ever since PcMods released the first commercially produced PC Cold Cathode bulb in 2001, the popularity of this item has grown tremendously. Over time, the features have improved as well. Our newest version - the deluxe kit - has yet more features that are unavailable elsewhere, including:

Real Jam Nut Switch (see picture). Moving away from the loose fit of the snap in switches that most companies, sell, the deluxe kit utilizes a 2 piece jam nut switch.

Boxed Inverter We just couldn't call it a deluxe kit if we just put a piece of heatshrink over it. The boxed inverter improves safety and provides for a nice finished OEM look.

Endcubes Top Quality Finish is a number one priority here at PcMods. The endcubes that we utilize provide an excellent mounting surface. It looks great and is functional too.

Velcro fasteners Sometimes the little touches make the biggest difference. Don't use double face tape to hold on your cathode - use velcro to make it easier to remove it when needed.

Let's see, so far I want everything you mentioned :D, except the tornado, don't need any more of those. I really like the ide cable. I just got the Vantec blue rounded, but that mesh looks great. I actually think I have noticed a small drop in my temps because of the better airflow. It could be me, but has anybody noticed a speed increase using rounded cables opposed to ribbon. Keep it up, I want to see everything. I assume you will be using anodized thumbscrews? have them everywhere, even on the pci cards.

actually i read this article which sounded like you might loose performance using rounded cables. something like all the grounds that are between the wires on a ribbon cable are jumbled up and next to other wires when you round them, but i did a little of my own testing. swapped my rounded cable for a ribbon and HD Tach didnt show any difference, neither gain nor loss. I should probably try sisoft sandra to bench them next. any other hard disk benchmarking progs out there? Does PC Mark do it, havent used it in a bit.

Also this article said there is a minimum length a cable must be, so being short as possible doesnt help, ill try to post the link to the article tonight when i get home.

Yeah PC Mark has a HDD test. I read that same article or 1 similar to it. I think they were referring to homemade rounded though. The ones that are professionally made I think they separate the grounds and stuff so there won't be that problem.
