MSI brings out the SiS 648 motherboard

MSI have been in the forefront for bringing out new motherboards with the latest technology time and time again. It's no wonder that they have always caught the spotlight. The MSI 648 Max is the latest addition to their range of P4 motherboards which uses the SiS 648 chipset. I have to admit, I've always liked the extra onboard features found on MSI motherboards ... So I didn't expected the MSI 648 Max to be anything different.

I have never been a big fan of the SiS chipsets... Although they do bring some good things to the table...such as 1066 support, I have never really been impressed with their stablility... (at least in my experiences)

i agree, my freind had an SiS 730 chipset and it is really really really bad...he's had very bad experiances.

also my neighbor has had the ECS K75SA and that has an SiS chipset, but he sold his although he never had probs.

Me either, my man! Just something about the SIS chipset. I have one system that uses SIS (Linux/98 rig) and I hate the BIOS.

what bios is it? bios doesn't have to be chipset specfic, for instance MSI's KT3 Ultra2 comes with AMI bios (ugh) but asus A7V333 comes with award (yay) both have the Via KT333 chipset.

PCHIPS!!!! i hate thier motherboards, i had to look at a rig for a freind to see whats the prob, it was a PC-chips that supported a Via C3-500mhz processor, its a POS, the chipset is Via (i guess) but it had AMI bios which is sucky, comparable to the older bios's in 486's etc. i prefer the newer Award/Pheonix bios's, much more user freindly.

Yeah, it bites! But I only use it for my Linux/Win 98 test box. Plus the whole rig was only $300 bux.
