I did find some old seakers to complete the 7.1 effect one day... didn't make a difference to me, and I knocked them over a few times and decided it was too much trouble and went back to 5.1. Bruceleeon
how many people can actually tell the difference between 7.1 and 5.1 anyway.. especially when you are talking about analog speakers?
JimBowy
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy I purchased before the Audigy 2 came out. It works great, I can't complain. And my speakers are Logitech Z560's which sound great with music and games....! And for $130 it was a great deal.
jsgolfman
Have you thought about the 640's? You can get them really cheap at Newegg. Those are the THX ones, right? So, you may want to forget about my advice, hehe. It's just that the 640's are about $60-$70 cheaper and 5.1 as opposed to 4.1.
JimBowy
Ya, I've been thinking about it but my speakers have a ton of bass and thats what I really like when I'm playing games. Although the 5.1 surround sound sounds good I might wait and just get the latest and greatest if these speakers ever die on me.
Bruceleeon
If you are looking for incredible audio then i would steer away from most computer audio related products. Granted they have made great strides, but when you couple optical outputs and a great home stereo system; you are going to get an outstanding audio experience. PC-HAngover
I wasn't sure about them.. I mean their cards are extremely cheap compared to creative. I think I may give them a try. Does it compare to the Audigy 2?
Rbreb13
Don't know I quit the whole Creative card thing a couple years ago. I had so many problems with them. Especially when using VIA chipsets.
PC-HAngover
I have so many problems with the crappy drivers that I have to use the standard windows xp drivers! If I update them with the latest creative drivers.. I lose my digital signal to my Boston Accoustic speakers! Freakin creative! BLAH! JimBowy
Does anybody recall ever hearing about one of the sound card manufactuers planning on charging money for updated sound card drivers? If I remember correctly, I think it was Creative who planned to do this...
