ok well all the parts for the new comp have been ordered with the exception of the vid card.

now the personal preference question should i go with the 9700 pro aiw now or wait for the 9800 pro aiw in a month or so and go with a TI flavor card for now???

Edit by Rbreb13: moved to the proper forum.

If you already have the Ti then I'd wait. If not I'd get the 9700 now.

Unless you're sure you'd have a use or buyer for the Ti later.

Man, I wish you would have asked about a month ago. I had a GF4 that I gave to my brother in law. I had a GF2 around here somehwere too, don't know what happened to it. Don't get too excited though, it was an MX card. BTW, this monitor is great! $80 and it is a big difference from the 15" IBM.

I still have a GeForce 2 MX200 (32MB) sitting in my closet. And as soon as I upgrade, i'll have a GeForce 4 MX420 64MB to add to the collection.

ohh and you know what I said. ;)

Awesome! I can get a 21" NEC, HP or Dell for $150, 17" for $60. I just found out about it today. Apparently my company gets rid of all their used PC's to another reseller here locally. That reseller then sells it at a low cost to the employees. For some reason, bassards, my company won't sell it to the employees directly. We have some sweet stuff, our IT ends to roll new hardware over pretty regularly. None of the items are more 2-3 years old. I'm gonna have to look into some of it. They have a notebook on sale for $250.

he(CuZ) has had yet another good idea. 9800Pro, and a TvTuner card.

I will be upgrading within a few months. but I'll be going with the 9700 Pro because it's still a perfectly good/sound Vid Card.

It's like this, imagine they came out with a Corvette MX. It looks just like the regular Corvette, cept they put in a 4 cyl. engine, took out the power steering, put in an AM radio and you can drive it anywhere you want but it won't go over 50 on major highways.

Basically the MX versions are stripped of any real functionality! The GF4 MX 400 series for instance. A GF2 Ultra or Pro is faster. Plus they strip out all the GF4's shaders and such. I know you're looking for a new vid card so just stay away from the MX series and you'll get a much better card.

BTW: you always say cheap, wtf is cheap and what card do you want for a 64 meg? You can get some pretty decent cards for under $100 now!

Edit: I was gonna say just ask JS, but he responded while I was LOL
